What should I know before going to onsen in Japan
I’m planning to try an onsen for the first time during my trip to Japan, and honestly I’m a little nervous because I don’t want to accidentally break any etiquette rules.
I know you’re supposed to wash before entering, but I’m still unsure about small things like where to put the towel, how long people usually stay in the bath, and whether it’s okay to talk quietly inside.
For anyone who has been before, what are the most important beginner tips? Also, is it better to start with a hotel onsen, a public bath, or a more tourist-friendly place?
Would love to hear your first-time experience too, especially if you felt awkward at first.
