Things I always pack that people think are weird until they need them

a door wedge (for sketchy hotel locks), a small power strip (one plug in a hostel, five things to charge), a silk sleep sack (saved me in some questionable teahouses), cable ties (useful in literally every situation I've never predicted), and earplugs that actually work, not the foam ones, the wax ones. that's the list. it's a short list. it's a good list.
