Switched to eSIM a year ago and I'm not going back

It's not magic. in Southeast Asia a local SIM is still cheaper and often faster. but for Europe and short trips where I don't want to faff at the airport it's been genuinely great. Airalo has worked well for me, Holafly less so. the main thing nobody tells you: check your phone is actually unlocked first, learned that the hard way in Lisbon.
