do people actually scan QR codes to pay in thailand or is that just a tiktok thing

genuinely cannot tell if this is widespread or just at trendy spots in Bangkok. I've seen videos of people scanning at street stalls but my mate said she couldn't get it to work at all. going in march, would love to not carry a brick of cash everywhere
