Crossed into Vietnam from China by overnight train and it was one of the best travel days

I've had the Hanoi–Nanning route gets slept on (literally). border crossing was straightforward. the scenery going into northern Vietnam, karst mountains appearing from nowhere as it gets light, is one of those moments I'll think about for a long time. slower than flying. flying doesn't give you that.
